“I’ll see you later then,” Sun Jung bid one of her friend farewell as she turned the opposite way towards her own classroom at the end of the hall. She immediately saw the group of hot men standing just at the door of her classroom. She ran towards them excitedly.

“Yo! What’s up guys?” she beamed at the tall guys who were also smiling at her.

“Hey you’re late. We’ve been waiting for you for ages! My beard is already growing,” one of the guys said as he touched his jaw.

“Pshh. Come on, Yunho-ah. I’m only late by a few seconds!” Sun Jung slapped Yunho’s hands playfully as she let out a soft giggle. “So why are you guys in front of my classroom so early in the morning? Does any of you happen to have a crush with one of my classmates?”

Her random assumption had somehow made her own heart beat rapidly. She didn’t even know how she could ask such a question to the kingkas of the school. Of course it’s impossible for any of them to fall for the plain girls from her class. Sun Jung’s eyes travelled from looking at Yunho’s, Changmin’s, Junsu’s and finally at Jaejoong’s to search for answers. Suddenly, the thought of Jaejoong having a crush on her made her blush wildly.

Just as one of them were about to answer her question, they realised the familiar look that Sun Jung had on her face. They paused and looked between Sun Jung and Jaejoong repeatedly as both of them were looking into each other’s eyes.

“Ew, I thought you’ve got over Jaejoong already,” Changmin bluntly commented and took a few disgusted distances away.

At this, Jaejoong let out a hearty laugh as Sun Jung rushed towards Changmin to give him a good beating for embarrassing her.

“What can I say, I’m too irresistible,” Jaejoong smirked proudly.

“I’m soooooo over him okaaaay!” Sun Jung muttered at the same time.

Junsu and Yunho could only join in the laugh.

“Okay. Okay. I’m sorry. I was just having some fun,” Changmin pulled up both hands to surrender as he also laughed at Sun Jung’s silliness after consuming a few of her soft punches which were like tickles to his skin. “Look, are you free after class?”

“Yeah, we wanted to try out that new five-star restaurant at the city,” Yunho added with a smile.

Sun Jung pulled herself away from Changmin and looked at all four of them, thinking for a moment. “Of course!” she smiled widely, forgetting all the teasing that had taken place just a few minutes ago.

School today was more boring than usual to her opinion. She just couldn’t stop yawning in class and end up sleeping on her table with her head resting on her arms while the class was still commencing. Not that anybody minded to listen to her soft snores. She was just too brilliant in her studies to be bothered. And everyone was already used to it by now.

As soon as the last bell rang, her head immediately shot upwards causing the people seating beside her to jump in surprise. She ignored their curses and grabbed her untouched bag and ran out of the class. She couldn’t wait to go out and have lunch with her best buddies, especially when her stomach is grumbling so wildly.

She arrived at the deserted corridor in front of the kingkas’ classroom after a few minutes. She peeked inside and saw that no one was inside. She grunted hard. “How dare they forget about me and just leave? They were the ones who wanted me to meet them here.”

Feeling slightly disappointed, Sun Jung walked towards the nearby bench and sat down. She crossed her arms and made a grumpy face. In her head, she was thinking of all the possible ways to get back at the guys for giving her the false hope. They should know that she had a big appetite, and the invitation to dine at one of the finest restaurant was like a Valentine’s Day gift from Jaejoong to her.

Opps…

She still hadn’t got used to not thinking about Jaejoong in her daydreams. It was true that she had forgotten about her infatuation for that pretty-faced guy. But these things had become part of her habit. Her blushes, her thoughts, might still develop around him. Jaejoong has turned out to be the best of her best friends, and of course, the others have realised this.

“Hey, are you waiting for Jaejoong and his friends?” a voice came up to her.

She lifted her head and saw the last guy that she expected to see, especially after school was over. It was the other hot guy of the school, the one who refused to join Jaejoong’s gang even after fulfilling every possible qualification.

He smiled seductively towards her, purposely exposing his charm. Or maybe he was born to smile like that, and he could do nothing about it. Either way, she could feel the tinge of disgust at seeing his unnecessary greasiness as she fidgeted uncomfortably in her seat.

“Yup. Why?”

Another killer smile. “The school admins has asked for them. They might take a while. Do you mind me keeping you company while you wait?”

She had never approved of guys who switch girls like they’re changing clothes every day. And this guy is one of the bad examples. She hoped that he’s not here to hit on her, because she will immediately turn him down. But letting him wait with her should be alright… Right?

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“Do you know this girl named Han Yuri?” he suddenly asked.

Sun Jung turned to look at him who was currently sitting at the other end of the bench. Her forehead frowned as she was coming up with possible reason of why this guy could be interested in the prettiest girl in her class. She might not be special, but she was the best out of all the plain girls she knew.

“Yeah, we’re in the same class. Why?”

“Can you do me a favour?” he turned his body to face her more properly as Sun Jung immediately recognised the player’s glow in his eyes.

She smirked in annoyance. She could immediately guess what he would be asking from her. “What will I get for helping you?” she asked instead.

The guy beamed and scooted closer. “I’ll pay for your lunch for the whole month!”

At the mention of food, her eyes quickly lightened. “Sweet! Oh, by the way, your name is Yoochun right?”

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“I’ve been trying to get close to her, but she’s difficultly different,” he started one day.

It has been a few days since they first spoke to each other on the bench. And Sun Jung could still remember the tease she received once the guys were back from the admin’s office. They were playfully accusing her of cheating on Jaejoong, whose expression is unreadable by her.

“How different?” she pretended to investigate on her way to help Yoochun get hooked up with Han Yuri.

“I don’t know how to explain. I thought she could be easy, since I got bored of my previous types. She’s very pretty for an innocent girl. And I just noticed how hard it is to get nice girls to fall for me.”

Sun Jung smirked at his remarks. “So you admit that your previous girlfriends are all bad?”

“I don’t mean it that way!” he suddenly felt alarmed. Perhaps the ego of keeping up to his standards took over him. “Anyways, tell me more about Han Yuri. What type of guy does she like?”

She chuckled at his question. “First of all, she doesn’t like playboys like you. Even I don’t, and also most of the girl population in this school. They’re only after your status and money. And behind your back, they’d only laugh at your stupidity.”

His eyes bulged at her lengthy statement. “Yah! I didn’t ask for that much details!”

“Opps, my bad…”

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“Sun Jung, I heard you’re helping that self-centered Yoochun guy to get one of the girls from your class.”

Junsu suddenly asked as he was walking her to her doorstep one day. Every day, the guys would take turns to walk her home from school. She couldn’t remember since when they had come up with this weird arrangement. But she was nevertheless grateful for it.

“Yeap, and he promised to pay for my lunch this whole month. Isn’t that great?” she smiled widely. “Why do you ask?”

He looked at her as he fixed the position of his bag-strap on his shoulders. “Jaejoong has been asking about it,” he answered indifferently. “Maybe he’s worried that you might be Yoochun’s next target.”

“Oh…” Sun Jung stared at her feet which were taking one step after another. “Tell him he shouldn’t be. Yoochun’s a pretty cool guy. Though, he might be really annoying at times due to that playboy attitude.”

“Uhuh…” Junsu nodded. “Alright then, that’s your house. We’ll see each other tomorrow, okay?”

“Umm, actually I’ve promised to meet up with Yoochun tomorrow. He said it’s an emergency. I don’t think I can join our usual weekend’s outing this time.”

Junsu’s face immediately dropped. He was starting to feel a bit disappointed at how Sun Jung was paying more attention towards Yoochun lately. But he tried not to show it.

“That’s cool. No problem. I’ll just tell the others,” he said before turning around.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“What’s up?” Sun Jung asked in irritation. She can’t believe that she had just ditched her best friends for the stupid Yoochun. When she woke up this morning, all she could think of is how she would make it up to all four of them the next time they meet.

“What’s with the long face?” Yoochun asked instead, worried.

Sun Jung rolled her eyes and stared elsewhere around the coffee shop, anyplace other than Yoochun’s face. How dare he say that this is an emergency, when he had only wanted to have someone to accompany him to drink coffee?

“Hey, I’m sorry okay. If only I had a new girlfriend by now, I wouldn’t have to ask you. And I have quite a high reputation in this coffee shop. If I stopped coming, or came alone, it will totally ruin my name.”

“Psh… You’re ridiculous,” Sun Jung kept on staring at her leaf-shaped cream on her coffee with an annoyed face. She was in fact jealous of the better time her best friends might be having at the same moment.

“Look, just order anything you want. It’s on me. Order some take-away too if you want. It’s a thank you for keeping me company today.”

Sun Jung didn’t respond at all. Yoochun frowned at her behaviour. Was it because of him? Did he make her upset? Maybe she needed to hear some good news out of her hard work in helping him to cheer up. Unconsciously, Yoochun took her hand in his and held it.

“Han Yuri said she’ll think about it. Thanks to you, she’s giving me a chance,” Yoochun announced with a smile, hoping that she would smile too.

Lifting up her head, Sun Jung stared blankly at Yoochun, then at her hand. Yoochun noticed her uncomfortable look and immediately let go. “I’m sorry…”

“That’s alright,” Sun Jung pulled her hand to rest on her lap. Her face now held a sad expression. She wasn’t sure if it was still due to her broken promise with her best friends, or was it because of Yoochun’s revelation just now.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“You wouldn’t believe how Jaejoong was behaving all day that day,” Changmin started to laugh out loud while Jaejoong himself was struggling to shut him up. Sun Jung just smiled and waited in anticipation of what Changmin had to reveal. She was glad enough that the guys were okay with her not being present at their last outing. She didn’t have to worry of losing her best friends because of it.

“Yeah,” Junsu added excitedly from behind her. “All he ever asked is where you were and what you could be doing with that Yoochun guy.”

Jaejoong was in fact blushing madly right now, considering that he had such fair skin.

“I swear, he looked like he was worrying over his girlfriend cheating on someone else,” Changmin continued to tease Jaejoong. “You better tell him now that he’ll always be the one you’ll be crushing for forever.”

“Shut up!” Jaejoong claimed desperately, not daring to look at Sun Jung herself.

This scene is very much amusing to Sun Jung’s opinion. She hadn’t seen this side of Jaejoong before. It was made clear to her that Jaejoong had never looked at her as more than a friend, and he had always acted that way too. That was why Sun Jung was okay with her one-sided crush, which she had gotten over with. But now, he seemed to have changed…

Though, try as hard as she might, she was hoping that her assumptions were wrong. Because she didn’t think she’ll be able to like him the same way anymore, for her heart was starting to fall for someone else.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Two weeks have passed by, and Sun Jung still meets Yoochun occasionally. It was in fact hard to persuade Yuri to accept Yoochun. He wasn’t exaggerating. And because of the lunch promises, Sun Jung had to agree to meet up more often to help him. And in the process, Sun Jung has learnt a lot about Yoochun, especially the characteristics that he had always kept secret from the girls that he’s courting.

Today, Yoochun has asked to meet her because he needed to tell her good news. So she waited at the front of the cafeteria during lunch, and asked for her best friends to go on without her.

“Hey, sorry I’m late,” Yoochun said in between his breath. “Have you eaten yet?”

“Nope. I was waiting for you.”

He smiled at that statement and straightaway took hold of her hand. “She said yes! She’ll be my girlfriend! Oh my God, I think I’m really falling for her. I can’t believe I’m feeling so happy.”

Sun Jung forced up a smile. “Congratulations.”

“Come! I have to treat you with the best food this cafeteria has to offer!”

And she could only follow his pull towards the food counter with a broken heart.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“Sun-chan,” Junsu greeted cutely as she was eating by herself inside the cafeteria that day. “Sorry we’re late. We had to meet the school admins again. It’s something to do with re-organising the student body or whatever.”

“Oh, that’s okay. I was just too hungry so I ate first.” She looked at the rest of the guys who were taking their respective seats at the table, with Jaejoong sitting right next to her.

“So…” Yunho started. “Your thing with Yoochun has settled?”

Sun Jung nodded a few times. “But he still wants to be friends, so I’ll be meeting up with him after school today, just for a while.”

“Awh… I was going to ask you to accompany me to the arcade,” Changmin cut in. “Jaejoong, Yunho and Junsu has plans with their families.”

“I’m sorry Changmin. But you’re welcome to join me and Yoochun if you want.”

“Yeah!” it was Jaejoong’s turn to cut in. “You can be there with her--- Er...” At receiving odd looks by his peers, Jaejoong immediately slumped back into his seat and frowned.

Sun Jung suddenly found it funny for Jaejoong to behave like that. She teasingly turned towards Jaejoong and said with the most seductive pout, “Don’t worry about me, oppaaaaa~~ Yoochun already has a new girlfriend. I’ll always be yours no matter what," and she winked.

And the rest of the guys immediately broke into a great set of laughter except for Jaejoong who was blushing madly.

“Gosh, that’s a really good one, Sun Jung-ah. I haven’t heard you tease Jaejoong in such a long time,” Yunho commented while wiping away his happy tears.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“Hey Sunnie!~” her brother called out her pet name from the front door. There’s a Yoochun looking for you.”

Feeling irritated at Kim Hee Chul for calling her like that in front of a guest, she stormed downstairs and smacked him hard at the back of his head. “There, may all the intelligent brain cells of the family comes back to you.”

Yoochun, who was at the door, couldn’t hold back his giggle.

“Sorry, you had to see that.”

He shook his head and handed over an external hard-disk. “Here. I’m finished with it. Thanks for letting me borrow it. The movies are great!”

“You’re welcome.”

And they quickly bid each other goodbye and he left as she closed the door.

It has been a week since Yoochun and Yuri had been together, and it has also been a week since they would meet each other occasionally like this. However, Sun Jung had started to notice that Yoochun was trying to lessen the times they hang out. Has Yuri forbidden him to meet her as often? Or has Yoochun found out the Kim Sun Jung is slowly falling for his charms?

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Learning the real personality of Park Yoochun was the biggest mistake of her life. She had always hated him for playing with the heart of girls even though some of them really deserved it. And sometimes she was satisfied when she knew that some girls were successful at making use of Yoochun’s money and status. He should learn to taste his own medicine as well.

But as she started to get to know him, spend more time with him even if it’s for all the wrong reasons, she couldn’t help but to admire him. Behind that playboy mask, Yoochun actually cared a lot for other people. He’s responsible, kind and considerate and he treasures friendships to lengths unimaginable. Too bad, he has now belonged to another girl, and she was the one who helped him to get her. Or else, he could’ve been Sun Jung’s perfect fantasy.

“Hey, are you there?” Yoochun waved his hand in front of her.

Sun Jung looked up and smiled faintly. “Yeah. Sorry I was thinking about something. You were saying?”

“I said, I think we should stop hanging out together.”

Yoochun’s statement was greeted by silence. Somehow, Yoochun has expected such reaction because he didn’t seem as apologetic.

“I think this is better for you, me, Yuri and Jaejoong.”

A question immediately rose from the back of her head. “Why Jaejoong?”

“That guy has been crushing on you since forever, right? I don’t want to give him false impression that I’m trying to take you away from him. He could be possessive at times. And also…”

Sun Jung waited for his next words, but he only sighed and stood up from his seat after shaking his head a few times.

“Wait, you’re leaving already? At least finish that cup of coffee first.”

“That’s okay. Yuri is waiting for me. I better go.”

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

After that day, Sun Jung has never met Yoochun again, except if they bumped into each other in school. Even then, Yoochun would pretend that he didn’t know her and just walked away. And with each day that passed by, no one could imagine how it pained her heart to see both Yuri and Yoochun together wherever she goes. The sweet kisses that he showered her with and the special care than he showed… It seemed like Yoochun has really found the one, because he had stopped courting other girls since it has been a few weeks and their relationship seemed to get even stronger.

Sun Jung’s heart was torn into pieces, and she has no one to cry on to…

But unknown to her, his heart was also torn, not because having to see her spend time alone with Jaejoong, but because he realised that he had miscalculated his own feelings.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

“Kim Sun Jung…” a familiar voice called out her name. She was at the library, preparing for her finals when Yoochun suddenly appeared behind her. The surprise on her face was clearly shown. She stood up slowly and went closer to him. It has been nearly a month since they last talked to each other.

“What are you doing here? Do you need anything from me?”

Yoochun continued to look into her eyes silently, which has made her feel very awkward.

“Hey…” she tried to break the silence. He seemed to be having some troubles from the look of his face. She wanted to get closer to him to comfort him but the thought of him already having a girlfriend prevented her.

But instead, he was the one approaching her, closing the distance and took hold of her hands. He held them tight and held his head down, closing his eyes to savour the feelings that were running through his body from the simple touch.

“Yoochun, Yuri might see. She’s my classmate. I don’t want her to have any reasons to be mad at me…”

“Shhh…” Yoochun whispered, lifting his head and pulled her between the bookshelves to create some privacy. “She’s not going to get mad at you.”

Sun Jung shot him an unbelieving look. “Yah! Of course she will! You’re her boyfriend! If you’re serious with your relationship with her, you should leave now.”

“We’re over…” Yoochun continued, not paying attention at Sun Jung’s ramblings. He only stared into Sun Jung’s eyes with all the heart that he has. He started to intertwine his fingers within hers.

“Yah, what are you doing?” Sun Jung tried to free herself from his grips. “Are you crazy?”

“Kim Sun Jung,” he called again. “I can't take it anymore. Forgive me. Forgive me for falling in love with you. As much as you hated guys like me, I just can't help from falling so much deeper into you.”

Sun Jung’s eyes bulged at his statement. She wasn’t sure if she should be happy and accept what he had confessed, or if she should put her guards up in case Yoochun might start his playboy routines yet again.

“I… I thought your love has always been Yuri,” Sun Jung tried to hide her mixed feelings from showing through her voice. “She’s the one who has changed you to become a better man.”

“No,” he immediately cut in. “It has always been you. And I was blind and stupid to have miscalculated my own feelings. I thought that the overwhelming love I felt was for her, but it was in fact for you. I didn't even realise it among all those times we spent together. My heart broke more each day when I stopped seeing you. The glimpse of you around school would lighten up my day, but even then, I was too stupid not to admit the growing feeling that I had for you. I was a coward and didn't want to accept it, so I ran away.”

“Yoochun, maybe you’re still confused…”

“Listen to me!” he sounded desperate and gripped on her hands tighter, but not to hurt her. “My heart is dying everyday without you by my side. It has stopped beating on that day I left you at the coffee shop alone. I thought some time away from you could lessen the pain, but it only got worse. That is how I realised, and has learn to accept, that you're the only one for me. So please...”

Slowly, he attempted to pull Sun Jung closer to him as he wrapped his arms around her fragile frame. A tiny smile appeared on his face when Sun Jung didn’t push him away.

“All that I want is you…” he whispered to her ears. “And I know that you want me too.”

“Then…” Sun Jung started to blush, “Show me just how much is that love that you claim you have for me.”

Yoochun released her from his hug and stared into her eyes with a meaningful smile. With each closing distance between their faces, both of their hearts started to beat faster. The overwhelming feeling of love that has been kept deep inside of them poured out easily as their lips touched and caressed each other, entwining their hearts together in the most subtle way.

And from a distance a pair of eyes was watching them intently, as a sigh left his lips before he slowly walked away with a broken heart.
