“HeeRyo, she’s gone. Just accept that fact.” He bluntly said, not realizing that his words just made the broken, shivering girl in front of him sobbed even harder with more tears pouring out from her swollen eyes. He runs his long fingers over his hair and leaned forward to hug her after that.
“Ryo, I’m sorry… sorry about that. It’s just that, she’s gone, okay? We have to accept this… She’s gone forever and she’s not coming back…” He stroked her hair slowly, as she grabbed his shirt and began punching him. He gladly took them in without complaining or even whimpering.
“Why…!! Why she have to go… Just like that?! We have a deal!!! A damn deal, Changmin!!!” HeeRyo sobbed even harder and she hits Changmin even harder with each sob. She had successfully made Changmin’s black t-shirt damp with her tears by now, yet she doesn’t care and he doesn’t really mind about it.
“Ryo…” Changmin hugged her even tighter, not caring if she had made his shirt wet, not caring if she’s hurting him like that, all he cared about was her feelings… After losing a best friend…
“Changmin!!! I want us to end this deal first then only I will let her go!!! If not, I wouldn’t let her go!!!” HeeRyo screamed, burying her face into Changmin’s chest, crying even harder. Changmin just hugged her skinny body closer to his, hoping that she will calm down soon.
That’s when the door to his room was opened, abruptly as a man stepped inside, looking for something.
“Jae- Jaejoong hyung! What are you doing here?” Changmin was too shocked at the man’s sudden appearance to even realize that HeeRyo was already sleeping in his arms. He tried to stand up but the man pointed to the girl in his embrace. Changmin looked down and realized that HeeRyo had fallen asleep, her face had a slight tint of pink and she was frowning in her sleep.
He chuckled lightly and placed her on his bed, before walking towards the man.
“Where’s she?!” Jaejoong demanded in a hiss, not wanting the girl to wake up from her deep slumber.
Changmin looked at HeeRyo’s sleeping figure on his bed and decided that it’s not good for them to talk about this matter in his room.
“My study room, now.”

“Why did you come back?” Changmin asked Jaejoong as soon as they stepped into the study room. Changmin turned around to look at the latter’s face.
“Someone told me that she had passed away. That’s why I came back.” Jaejoong replied sternly, it’s clear that those two had an argument before this. Their relationship is not that good either.
“You have no reason to come back for my sister, Jaejoong hyung. Not after what you did to her.” Changmin said with a cold tone, changing drastically into a protective brother. Well, he’s very protective when it comes to his little sister. His own flesh, his other self.
Shim HyeWon.
“She’s still someone important to me!” Jaejoong sneered, greeting his teeth, showing his anger to the younger male.
“You killed her, Jaejoong hyung. Accept the fact. YOU KILLED HER!!” Changmin roared angrily, finally letting his anger out. Jaejoong was taken aback at the sudden drastic change of behavior.
“Wha- What do you mean?” Jaejoong’s voice were quivering, he was shocked at the sudden outburst, and on Changmin’s statement.
‘You killed her! You killed her! You killed her!’
That sentence echoed in his mind, repeatedly, making him dizzy and confused. What did I do? Jaejoong wondered.
Changmin rushed forward and grabbed Jaejoong’s collar harshly, looking into his eyes with fury and hatred.
“You still don’t know?! Are you THAT stupid, Jaejoong hyung?! She was suffering after you left her! She refused to eat for the first few weeks, and it took me another month for her to talk to me again! As a brother, how do you feel hyung? Huh? Your sister not eating, not talking, not becoming her usual self, like a zombie… What will you feel hyung?! And those are because of a stupid fucking guy?! Won’t you be mad, hyung!?” Changmin continuously attacked Jaejoong mentally while pushing him towards the wall, trapping Jaejoong between himself and the wall.
Jaejoong was shocked. He never knew HyeWon would be like that. She’s a strong girl, as far as he had known her for almost 12 years, he knew she’s not that weak.
“And knowing your little sister had a weak heart, yet she refused to undergo treatment because she’s afraid that her feelings for you might disappear, do you know how much despair I live in at that time?! My sister is dying because of her weak heart yet she’s still holding unto the so called undying love! She still believed that you will come back, someday for her!” Changmin continued when Jaejoong doesn’t give any reaction. His eyes were wet with his own tears now, reminiscing the painful moments gone through by her sister, he’s glad that those pain and misery had ended, finally.
“…And the fact that my best friend is the damn stupid guy, I’m becoming more and more tired, sad and my hatred for you grow even more during that period of time. She was so strong after our parents passed away, she didn’t even cry! She didn’t even cry when she loses her first teeth! She didn’t cry when she got second in class! She didn’t cry when she falls down! But… She cried after you left her…”
That’s it. Changmin’s last sentence made him realize, he was a fool to leave her just like that. He was a fool to believe that distance will only make them realize the importance of the other party, to realize that their love is immortal. Jaejoong cried, he sobbed hardly, ignoring Changmin’s tight grip on his collar, he flung his arms forward and hugged the younger male.
“Changmin… Sorry… I’m so sorry… Terribly sorry… I’m foolish… Stupid…” Jaejoong cried even harder when Changmin hugged him back. They have always been good buddies; it’s painful to see two best friends quarrelling because of love.

“Yo, man! How are you?” Yoochun greeted him with a hug, as Yunho smiled warmly at him, and Junsu waved at his direction. He smiled back as a form of greeting.
Jaejoong released Yoochun from his embrace and playfully punched his shoulders. “Fine, how are you, man?” He joked, lightening the dull and somber atmosphere surrounding them.
Changmin had called their best friends for a reunion at his mansion yesterday. Yunho had fly directly from Hong Kong after he got the phone call, while Yoochun and Junsu who worked together as fashion designers flied from London after their fashion show last night, just for their small reunion. They will never let the youngest Changmin down, and the fact that Jaejoong’s here too, they wouldn’t want to miss the event.
They made a lot of updates on themselves while drowning themselves with strong liquors. 5 years without any news, there must have been many things that have changed, right?
Jaejoong nearly choked on his liquor when Junsu said that he’s engaged with Yoochun. “WHAT?!”
Junsu scooted closer to Yoochun, entwining their fingers together as Junsu leaned his head on Yoochun’s shoulder. “Yeah, we’re getting married next month.”
Jaejoong’s eyes nearly bulged out of the sockets upon hearing this news.
“Are you guys serious?!”
“Yeah.”
Jaejoong shook his head mentally. He never thought those 5 years he was away, things could have changed so drastically.
“I guess, I went away too long, huh?” Jaejoong sighed deeply, as the others focused on him.
Slowly, without them realizing it, the atmosphere went dark, somber and dull again. All of them were thinking about the same person.
Shim HyeWon.
Changmin’s little sister. Their little sister too. They treated her like a princess. Sometimes bullying her, tricking her, making funny of her.
They just loved the smiling face of the girl and her unique, full of life laugh. Her cute little pout and her puppy eye were very hard to resist.
Those times when her eyes were sparkling because of happiness, joyfulness, when she’s excited and when she’s… in love.
Those qualities that made Jaejoong fall in love with her, deeper and stronger each and every day.
He didn’t even realize when he started to notice the cute dimples she had when she smiled, and her funny yet interesting behavior.
He had fallen for his best friend’s sister.
“I missed HyeWon.” Junsu blurted out. He, being the closest to HyeWon, felt the most painful pain over her death.
She was found dead, by the roadside, while crossing the road. Blood were oozing out of her pale body when he found her near Changmin’s mansion.
Yet, she still muttered Jaejoong’s name during the time she was in coma, hoping that somehow he would come back to her.
“You know, Jaejoong. HyeWon called your name everyday when she’s in coma. But thinking that we couldn’t even have your phone number to begin with, we couldn’t do anything.” Yoochun frankly speak, making Changmin and Jaejoong cry again. Both men were deeply in love with the girl, Changmin loved his dear sister, his only family dearly with all his heart, while Jaejoong loved the first love of his life so deeply too.
“She could’ve been saved… If only she’s not refusing to undergo the treatment…”

[5 months later…]
“Yoboseyo? Who is this?”
“Junsu hyung, it’s Changmin.”
“Oh, why are you calling me at… 3am, Changmin ah?”
“I need you at XX Hospital now, hyung. I’m sorry that I disturbed your honeymoon, but please bring Yoochun hyung together. And don’t forget to inform Yunho hyung too, I can’t use my phone too long in a hospital.”
“Oh, sure. But why?”
“See you later, hyung.”
Changmin sighed as he ended the call. The truth is, he’s holding back his tears now. How could two important people in his life leave him like this? First, his sister and now, him?!
He glanced at the pale man inside the room, body attached to different kinds of wires and tubes, while the machine next to it continued to beep in a constant speed, notifying that his heart is still beating.
“Changmin ah…” HeeRyo hugged him from behind, burying her face on his back. Changmin turned around to face her and he hugged her.
“Why…? Why him now?” Changmin asked, the tears he was holding back were threatening to fall anytime soon.
“I believe, distance would make them cherish each other… They realized that their love is immortal, God had fated this for them… This is their fate, Changmin…”
Just as then, he could hear frantic footsteps coming towards their direction. He looked up just to see Yunho, Junsu and Yoochun running towards him.
“Hyungs…” He muttered softly, as HeeRyo wiped his tears away and smiled at him. He smiled back at her.
“Changmin ah, what are we doing here? Who’s sick?” Junsu shoot him with questions as soon as they were standing in front of him.
Changmin moved next to the glass wall. Pointing at the sick person lying lifelessly on the bed inside the room.
They peeked to take a look at the person. And when they realized who it was, they were shocked. Mouth wide open, eyes bulging out from the sockets.
“No way! What happened, Changmin?” Yoochun was the first one to ask.
“He… fainted… While looking at the sunset in her room… That’s when I know… He told me… He had… Congenital heart disease… He fainted again this evening, and he looked so pale… The doctors immediately put him in ICU… He’s been like this for the past few hours… The doctor said that… He might not last that long… His heart disease was in the last phase… There’s no way to save him anymore…” Changmin began to cry again. Why? Why do these things have to happen to him? Why does he have to witness his beloved’s death!?
“I see… I guess, this is their fate. Their love is immortal, after all. All HyeWon told me had come true, finally.” Junsu sighed and sit on the chairs at the side of the hallway. The others were shocked at Junsu’s words.
“What do you mean, HyeWon told you? She told you what?” HeeRyo leaped forward and kneeled in front of Junsu. Junsu shifted a little as Yoochun took his seat next to him, taking his hand into his and hugged him.
“HyeWon told me once that… She knew, wherever she is, Jaejoong would always follow her… And their love is somehow immortal, she had seen her own death, and she knew he’s going to follow her footsteps too, with the same reason of her death… I don’t really pay attention that time as I thought it’s ridiculous to witness your own death, but… It’s proved now, isn’t it?” Junsu wiped away the tears on his face with a small smile.
All of them nodded at Junsu’s statement. That’s when the machine in the room beeped loudly, as the lines went straight, nurses were rushing into the room, and doctors were trying hard to bring him back… While for Junsu, Yoochun, Yunho, Changmin and HeeRyo, they just looked at the doctors’ meaningless effort.
Jaejoong will not come back, because HyeWon had invited him to an eternal world. Their love was once again reunited. Their immortal love.
